"TCU has been to two of my games this year and I went off in both," noted Gamblin. "Coach [Rusty] Burns came to the Arlington Bowie game. I had nine catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns that game. My coach said TCU came to the Plano West game, too, but he didn't say which coach."
Gamblin and his Mesquite High Skeeters, ranked 40th in the FOXSportsNEXT Top 50, sit at a perfect 8-0, having knocked some tough opponents in Arlington Bowie, Plano West, Rockwall-Heath and rival Mesquite Horn. With two regular season games remaining, a playoff berth looks likely.
Gamblin's 494 yards and 5 scores on just 33 catches has certainly contributed to this success.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder was one of a handful of recruits invited to Amon G. Carter Stadium Saturday when the Frogs hosted Texas Tech, falling 56-53 in a nail-biting triple overtime with the Red Raiders.
Still, "It was great," Gamblin exclaimed. "I loved everything about it. My mom and my brother came with me. We got to go on the field for pregame, got a tour of everything. They have a two-story weightroom. It was awesome. Everything."
"The game was crazy. You couldn't even hear yourself talk it was so loud… I talked to 'Trey-Deuce' [Trevone Boykin] after the game, but he was mad because they lost, so we didn't talk long."
"The coaches were good to me, too. The way they were talking to me, and the way Ms. Danielle [Bartelstein, Assistant Director of Football Operations] said they talk about me, I know they really like me a lot."
