Playoffs Start Tomorrow

The regular 2008 high school football season has come to an end, but several of Rice's 2009 recruits are just beginning their second season - the playoffs...

High school playoffs kick into high gear this weekend. For a few future Rice Owls, they look to just keep winning. Alex Francis, Broderick Jackson, and Paul Porras are all playing on undefeated teams.

10 players from the current group of 14 commits will still being playing football this Friday night.

Here's a list of some of the players and their playoff schedules...

Cody Bauer - the big Defensive End has 12 sacks this year.

Pottsboro plays Jacksboro this weekend.

Andre Brackens - one of the most talented players in the private school ranks, two-way star Brackens has over 1500 all-purpose yards on Offense, to go with 7 interceptions on Defense, Andre has 14 picks in two years.

Dallas Parish Episcopal vs. Argyle Liberty Christian; Friday 7:00 at Argyle.

Alex Francis - the talented Cornerback is just one of many D-I players on the undefeated Hightower squad. Hightower beat FB Travis 38-0 in their last game.

Hightower vs. Clear Creek; Friday 7:30 at Pearland

Nic Hammett - the future Owl Linebacker has over 115 tackles already and is playing with a lot of confidence in his abilities right now.

Rockdale has a bye in the opening round of playoffs - then takes on the winner of Coldspring vs. West Orange-Stark.

Jon Hodde - the Burton Panthers beat two ranked teams this year in route to winning their first district championship in school history.

Burton has a bye this weekend and will play the winner of Bosqueville vs. Granger.

Broderick Jackson - Kirbyville is 9-0 on the season and ranked #2 in the state in Class 2A. Jackson is a big reason for their success and plays both ways. He's got 651 yards on just 80 carries this season. In his last game he took an interception back 55 yards for a touchdown.

Kirbyville vs. Corrigan-Camden; 7:00 Friday in Woodville.

Jarek Lancaster - O'connor beat San Antonio Stevens to close out the regular season. Future Rice S/LB Lancaster has put together a solid season under Center playing QB. He's got over 1,000 yards of total Offense this season and has a ypc average of over 6 yards.

O'Connor vs. San Antonio Wagner; Saturday 11-15-2008, 2:00 pm San Antonio Dub Farris Stadium.

Alex Lowry - after a great visit to Rice last weekend Lowry is ready to resume play this weekend as The Fightin'Foxes of Caddo Mills take on Kerens this weekend in Grand Prairie.

Caddo Mills vs. Kerens, Friday 7:00 Grand Prairie.

Paul Porras - Saguaro is focused on "3-peating" as State Champions this year. Besides Porras, the Sabercats are loaded with Division I talent.

Scottsdale Saguaro vs. Lake Havasu; @ Saguaro Friday night 7:00.

Charles Ross - the talented speedster has over 1,000 yards for the season already - 1,095 to be exact, on 148 carries.

Schertz Clemens vs. San Antonio Fox Tech; Friday night at 7:30, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District Stadium.

Cade Shaw - the big Tackle from South Texas is fired up about Rice, but also out to extend Calallen's season. The Bobcats aren't used to losing and after dropping some games this year are playing much btter just at the right time.

CC Calallen vs. Mercedes; Friday night at Mercedes 7:30.
