Josh Rodriguez had two hits and two RBI to help Cleveland defeat Cincinnati 8-0, in an Arizona Instructional League game.

Rodriguez came on strong down the stretch and in the playoffs to help the Akron Aeros win the Class AA Eastern League championship earlier this month. That came after he missed 100 games because a hamstring injury.

Rodriguez hit .295 with 12 RBI and no homers in only 33 games for Akron in the regular season. The second baseman turns 25 in December and is playing in Arizona this fall to make up for lost time. With a good performance, he likely will be promoted to Triple-A Columbus next year.

In 348 career games in the minors, he has hit .256 with 57 doubles, 31 homers, 203 runs, 167 RBI and 37 steals in 54 attempts.

Cord Phelps had a double in three at-bats and scored twice, while Jason Kipnis and Roberto Perez had RBI singles for the Indians' prospects.
